Our Philanthropy

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

As our chapter philanthropy, Sigma hosts events which raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States.

One of our alumnae has CF and so this issue is near and dear to our hearts. We take CF seriously – in the past having raised $6500 for CF.

Selling chocolate covered strawberries is our newest fundraiser but in the past we have done Fond(of)ue, have partaken in a walk for CF, and other events too!

Sigma raises money for two different causes.

Our national philanthropy is American Jewish World Service, but we also contribute to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as a chapter-wide philanthropy.

We put together two big events each year to fundraise.

In order to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, we recently sold chocolate-covered strawberries for Valentine's Day and we made over $1400! We will be having another philanthropy event later this Spring to raise money for the American Jewish World Service, and we will keep you updated on how you can participate!

American Jewish World Service

Our national philanthropy is American Jewish World Service. Their mission statement is as follows: “Inspired by Judaism’s commitment to justice, American Jewish World Service works to realize human rights and end poverty in the developing world.”

In the past, we have fundraised for AJWS through our combined efforts with Challah for Hunger during our Spring quarter fundraiser, Challah Back! Over the course of five days our sisters and Challah for Hunger members tabled, collected orders, and made delicious challah for a great cause.

We will have an exciting new event coming up this spring to support this foundation so stay on the lookout for updates!
